Barenaked Ladies hit the studio with The Persuasions this weekend
Barenaked Ladies will record 12 tracks with legendary a cappella group The Persuasions this weekend.
From Sunday to Tuesday, the acts will take on 12 songs, comprised of reworked BNL tunes – with a couple of Persuastions tracks thrown in the mix too.
Vocal arrangements will be crafted by The Persuasions, with instrumentation and additional vox from the BNL boys. 🎙
Grinning Streak and Silverball producer Gavin Brown is back at the helm overseeing the sessions.
Keep an eager eye out on Get Barenaked in the coming days and weeks as the sessions are being filmed – and you can catch the resultant musical magic in video form right here (and on Facebook/Twitter). Stay tuned to those channels Sunday-Tues for exclusive photos from the studio! 📸
The studio session will come fresh off the back of the Dream Serenade concert on Saturday, where the acts are set to team up as a benefit for children with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Also featuring Broken Social Scene, Dan Mangan and Amy Millan, the show takes place at Massey Hall and tickets range from $25-100 – available here. This is not the first time the two acts have collaborated. Earlier in 2016, New York fans were treated at the Central Park Summerstage show when the legendary collective stormed the stage for rousing renditions of “Four Seconds” and “Sound of Your Voice” (see below).
Is this the best version of “Sound Of Your Voice” you’ve seen?!

The Persuasions formed in the mid-60s and in a glittering career have recorded alongside Joni Mitchell, Ray Charles and Liza Minnelli. This release will be the Brooklyn-based group’s 30th album, and BNL’s first fully collaborative LP.
